Materials
LDD supports only shiny plastic, chrome metallic and glitter bricks. The materials tab contains the settings for the materials used by POV-Ray™ for rendering image and gives a possibility to either use only LDD materials or use customized materials.
To use only materials defined in the LDD uncheck all check boxes.
To use custom finishing for the LDD materials:
- check the "use custom finishes" check box
- select the desired finishes file from the list. The file has to be in the LDD to POV-Ray™ Converter include directory and has to be named according to mask: ldd_*_finishes.inc. For example ldd_best_finishes.inc
Custom materials allows you to specify custom colors, finishing, normals and interior for each LDD material ID.
To use custom materials:
- check the "use custom materials" check box
- select the desired materials file from the list. The file has to be in the LDD to POV-Ray™ Converter include directory and has to be named according to mask: ldd_*_materials.inc. For example ldd_best_materials.inc
Some of the LEGO® bricks are allways made of one material. Like tires are always made of rubber and their finishing is allways the same, regardless of color. LDD to POV-Ray™ Converter contains material assignement for some bricks. This material has higher priority than the material selected in LDD. That means, that even a model having green transparent plastic tires will be rendered as model having green non-transparent rubber tires.
To use part materials:
- check the "use part materials" check box
When part materials are used brick will be rendered using finishing, normals and interior defined for given part material. Part material can potentially have also color different from the one selected in LDD. This allows user to make for example tires less black than plastic bricks, even with the same material ID assigned in LDD.
Custom part materials allows you to specify own material for any part. This material will have highest priority.
To use custom part materials:
- check the "use custom part materials" check box
- select the desired part materials file from the list. The file has to be in the LDD to POV-Ray™ Converter include directory and has to be named according to mask: ldd_*_part_materials.inc. For example ldd_best_part_materials.inc
For more informations on customization see the materials section in the customization topic.
